Amazing Adventures of Pierre Le Guy

My name is Andrew Gates and I am a professional Software Engineer. I graduated from Teeside University with a BSc in Computer Games Programming, achieving a high 2:1 grade in 2012 and am currently employed as an Experienced Software Engineer at a company called "REPL Digital". In my spare time I always like to have an interesting project on the go, usually something involving real-time graphics, procedural content generation or GPU computation, areas I find particularly interesting.

My time at "REPL Digital" has given me the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies and platforms, mostly in the mobile space, and to work as part of a development team in a professional environment and have worked with big clients including ASDA, Topshop, Argos, Tesco, Sofaworks and M&S to deliver custom software solutions. I have spent most of my time working in C# both with the Unity game engine for games and more interactive content, and with Xamarin to develop cross platform mobile applications, targeting both iOS and Android. I have also worked with Objective-C to create native iOS applications.

My course at university gave me the opportunity to work with multiple programming languages and development environments, with the main focus being C++ and object orientated programming, but also exposing me to platforms like XNA for C# development, and the Unreal Development Kit working alongside artists who could really get the most out of using a powerful game engine. I also got the chance to develop for mobile devices, both for the iPhone and for the GP2X Caanoo, focusing on writing code that is as efficient and effective as possible, targeting specific limited platforms.

Please feel free to have a look around at my projects and information and don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or comments!
